In May 1994, three principal members of a Boston law firm decided to rely on their common goals and beliefs, combine their knowledge and experience, and branch out on their own. From that simple yet challenging move, S&F came into being. Founded in June 1994 by Mary H. Schmidt, Phyllis E. Federico, and the late Richard D. Packenham S&F has since almost tripled its legal work force and moved to an office in Boston 's historic Back Bay.
